MAKONDO, the new Latin American Live Music and Cinema Event @The Exhibit in Balham, presents a Cuban themed evening of Cinema & Live Music.


FILM: ‘DAY OF THE FLOWERS’ @7PM (sold as part of the Film and Live Music Combo Ticket) Directed by John Roberts and staring Eva Birthistle, Charity Wakefield and Carlos Acosta.

Two Scottish sisters must overcome their differences as they journey to Cuba to uncover the mysteries of their family’s past. Arriving in Havana, their plans soon go awry as they encounter romance, danger, and the uncovering of family secrets in what will become a holiday they will never forget. Legendary dancer Carlos Acosta gives a sizzling performance in this laugh-out-loud romantic comedy (2013 UK / 99 minutes)

Award winning London-based classical Cuban guitarist, Ahmed Dickinson, one of the finest performers of the Cuban classical guitar school has teamed up with the versatile, passionate and imaginative Elena Zucchini, described by Spanish classical guitarist Alberto Ponce as ‘the next rising star of the classical guitar world’. They present a concoction of lively, fresh repertoire combining traditional Cuban and Latin American genres with classical styles.
